Rede Minas modernises playout with Pebble

A cutting-edge automation system is reshaping multi-channel playout in Brazil, brought to broadcasters by Pebble
Pebble, the leading automation specialist, has implemented a complete playout architecture for Brazilian broadcaster Rede Minas. The new system allows a much more tailored playout across multiple channels.
From Belo Horizonte, Rede Minas broadcasts using terrestrial, satellite and streaming distribution. To meet the demands of this large footprint, the company has sought to replace a life-expired playout infrastructure and add more functionality to the new solution.
“We needed to make the move to a modern playout environment but we knew it would be a significant undertaking for us,” said Caroline Santos, director of technology at Rede Minas. “Pebble and their local distributor Videodata were able to show us, through a proof-of-concept demonstration, how its software systems could deliver all we needed and more.”
A turnkey solution from Pebble was selected, which included its popular Automation, paired with Integrated Channel devices. Each of these devices has dual independent outputs, which Rede Minas is now using to provide opt-outs for some regions within its territory. The Pebble Automation layer ensures that the correct content for each output is quality-checked before transmission.
With this new solution, Rede Minas has space and power, allowing the broadcaster to expand output and add three education channels to its catalogue.
Rosalvo Carvalho, general director at Videodata concluded, “The result is transformational for Rede Minas, through a project which respected the need to minimise disruption to existing operations. We are all very proud of how well the implementation and subsequent operation went.”
This is not the first complete transformation that Pebble has been part of. The automation specialist also helped the SRF facility leverage modern technologies for a multi-channel playout.
