NRK goes on air with Shotoku robotic systems

Norway’s state broadcaster NRK has returned to air with a studio technology upgrade, enhancing its existing Shotoku robotic systems
Studios 5 and 7 are now on air at NRK, featuring Shotoku’s enhanced SmartRail systems. Three SmartPed robotic pedestals have also been added to Studio 7, while both rooms have been equipped with Shotoku’s latest Version 3 TR-XT control panels.
NRK was one of the first customers to use Shotoku’s original rail system in 2015. The studio has been in daily use since then, until NRK decided that it was time to upgrade its rail systems to the latest SmartRail hardware.
Aksel Helgheim, head of the upgrade project, commented on the process surrounding the change. “When the decision was made to update our on-air look and invest in new technologies, we were pleased to find that Shotoku could upgrade the rail systems we already owned to the latest specification.”
Using Shotoku for this upgrade has allowed NRK to use more of its budget on robotic pedestals. Additionally, Shotoku has provided continual support to NRK throughout the process.
James Eddershaw, MD of Shotoku Broadcast Systems, said, “We love it when a long-term customer like NRK trusts us to upgrade their existing systems and also augments their studios with products like SmartPed and our new V3 TR-XT control systems.”
NRK and Shotoku will continue to work together to provide quality news programming for Norway.
