World Archery brings production in-house with Appear’s X Platform

Appear has announced that World Archery has adopted its X Platform to power live event coverage across its global calendar

World Archery has gained greater autonomy of its content delivery. With 14 events already delivered and 12 more scheduled this summer, this shift relies on technology from Appear, the global leader in live production. This new IP-based workflow has helped to reduce costs and significantly improve the quality of live streams.

Commenting on the success of the change, Chris Wells, head of communications at World Archery, said, “Appear’s X Platform has allowed us to regain full control of our content, ensure that our audiences around the world enjoy a seamless viewing experience and reduce operational costs. Our calculations indicate that we gain all these advantages from an investment that has a payback period of just 18 months.”

Previously, World Archery was fully reliant on third-party production and distribution partners. This led to inconsistent quality, limited signal control and service outages, especially when priority was given to higher-volume content. Now, live production is centralised.

By deploying Appear’s X20 chassis, World Archery has transitioned to a fully IP-based production model. SRT video can be streamed from venues around the world directly to the Excellence Centre in Lausanne.

World Archery’s journey highlights an opportunity for federations seeking cost-effective control over their live production. A similar shift is underway in e-sports, where Appear’s IP-based solutions are also gaining ground.
