Rise announces the launch of the Rise Bursary

The Rise Bursary is set to empower the next generation of women in media technology by supporting those in higher education

The leading advocacy group for gender diversity in the broadcast and media sector, Rise, recently announced the launch of the Rise Bursary. This new initiative is designed to help aspiring young women entering the industry by offering financial assistance and networking opportunities.

This bursary is available to UK-based female students aged 17 and over who meet specific eligibility criteria. Education is at the forefront of the initiative, with the hope that this support will open doors for participants.

Recipients will not only receive financial assistance but will also benefit from structured career development. This includes access to coaching and regular check-ins with Rise. This ensures that talented students gain the education and guidance they need to build careers in the industry.

A core component of the Bursary is the ‘Tile of Opportunity’ sponsorship, an interactive mosaic displayed on the Rise website. In this digital display, each tile purchased by a sponsor directly supports the bursary.

The bursary also hopes to renew interest in careers within the industry. Nicki Fisher, chair of Rise, commented, “With this new bursary, we aim to ease the financial burden of higher education while providing ongoing support through the Rise community.”

Rise also supports women through its Woman of the Year Award. Find out about last year’s winner in this article.

Applications for the Rise Bursary open on 31 March 2025 and close on 16 June 2025.

Interested students can apply online via the Rise Website, where more details about eligibility are available.
