Sony launches ECM-778 shotgun microphone

Sony levels up pro production gear with the launch of its ECM-778 shotgun mic, two ultra-fast CFexpress Type A cards and a high-speed MRW-G3 card reader
As content production continues to demand both visual and audio precision, Sony has introduced the ECM-778 shotgun microphone. To support high-resolution video workflows, the company is also launching new CFexpress Type A cards for its Cinema Line and Alpha mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras: the CEA-G1920T (1920 GB) and CEA-G960T (960 GB). Rounding out the release, Sony is introducing the MRW-G3 CFexpress Type A card reader.
ECM-778 premium shotgun microphone
The ECM-778 shotgun microphone features a newly developed microphone capsule, a brass acoustic tube and a specifically designed electronic circuit board. Together, these features enable detailed recording with clear high frequencies and stable mid-low frequencies.
Despite its compact size, this microphone can deliver good forward directivity, providing greater user flexibility. This flexibility is boosted further by the option to connect it to different equipment setups.
Key highlights of this microphone include a low-cut switch to reduce unwanted bass noise and two types of wind screens. Developed in collaboration with film sound engineers, these elements contribute to a cinematic sound.
CEA-G1920T and CEA-G960T CFexpress Type A cards
Sony’s new CFexpress Type A cards support long video recording and fast shooting. These cards comply with the VPG (Video Performance Guarantee) 400 standard, ensuring stable video recording at 400 MB/sec.
Built to withstand the rigour of professional use, the cards provide approximately five times the drop resistance and ten times the bend strength. The CEA-G1920T and CEA-G960T are also protected against dust, water, extreme temperatures, X-rays, static and UV. This resilience makes them a dependable choice for challenging shoots.
MRW-G3 card reader
The MRW-G3 card reader provides high-speed CFexpress 4 and USB 40Gbps data transfer. Import times are significantly cut across computers, smartphones and tablets with this reader.
Like the new CFexpress Type A cards, the MRW-G3 card reader is created to ensure reliable performance. Its heat dissipation design boosts workflow efficiency, especially during large file transfers.
