TG4’s new green screen studio designed by CJP

TG4’s versatile new green screen studio created by CJP Broadcast Solutions is now the permanent home for weather forecasters
The systems integration and content digitisation specialist CJP Broadcast Solutions has recently built a new green screen studio for TG4, the major Irish-language broadcaster based in Galway. Converting an existing studio, this revamp has provided the broadcaster with a more flexible space for weather forecasts and continuity.
When a reorganisation of its facilities meant a studio became available, TG4 looked to industry professionals to convert this area for chromakey. TG4 was ultimately drawn to CJP due to its extensive experience in complex virtual production facilities.
CJP’s proposal to use an L-shaped screen and walls that curve through a 400mm radius into a green floor appealed to TG4. “The curves and finish are really very good,” said Nick Keaveney, director of technology at TG4. “The specialists from CJP worked with our lighting team to create an excellent surface which gives us good seamless keys.”
The studio’s flexibility was showcased in its debut as the results hub for Ireland’s general election in November 2024. Looking to the future, the broadcaster is hoping to use the new green screen studio for sports broadcasting and virtual production for Children’s TV.
