Comcast picks MediaKind platform for Xfinity

MediaKind’s MK.IO platform is powering Xfinity Multiview on X1 – a game-changer for the sports streaming experience
Xfinity Multiview is Comcast’s newest viewing experience, which enables customers to watch up to four live events simultaneously on the same screen. Comcast, a leading media and technology company, owns Xfinity, its consumer brand for internet, TV and streaming services.
MediaKind’s MK.IO platform is set to host this multiview experience. With this personalisation technology hosted on the Azure Media Cloud, customers can toggle between event and switch audio feeds with ease. The solution combines Skreens technology with MediaKind’s highly scalable streaming platform.
MK.IO Multiview services are designed for flexible, event-based workflows, allowing activation and scaling for major viewing events such as sports or news. Marc Todd, CEO and co-founder of Skreens, said, “The future of live sports experiences is here for fans interested in fantasy sports, sports wagering or simply wanting to follow multiple games at once.”
This solution is helpful in demonstrating the link between personalised live viewing and audience engagement. Most recently, MK.IO Multiview Xfinity has enriched the viewing experience for the NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournaments.
With cloud scalability and resiliency based on geo-redundancy, MK.IO Multiview delivers hundreds of live channels and millions of viewing hours.
