Introducing: FEED Honours List

Posted on Aug 9, 2024 by FEED Staff

We are proud to announce the launch of FEED’s first annual Honours List, giving special recognition to the true heroes of the broadcast and streaming landscape

The beauty of a quarterly magazine that covers all things broadcast, streaming and media is that we are constantly stumbling across powerful innovations which are redefining M&E and live TV in ways many won’t even realise.

Here at FEED, we seek to shine a spotlight on these game-changing advancements and inspiring tech stories in every one of our bumper-sized issues. However, more can always be done to recognise progress.

Therefore, we are delighted to announce the launch of the FEED Honours List – an annual celebration of excellence across the media-tech landscape. Featuring every year in FEED’s winter issue, the list serves as a platform to recognise and reflect on some of the rising talent and landmark works of our industry’s big hitters in 2024.

From acknowledging top start-ups to celebrating excellence in anything from cloud and live technology to outstanding contributions in sports and esports broadcast, we aim to celebrate every aspect of this constantly evolving space.

Carefully selected by the team at FEED, we’ll spend the next few months up until the nomination deadline of 1 November putting together the class of 2024 Honours List, which will then be revealed in our winter issue on 29 November.

When planning the Honours List, we quickly concluded that there’s far too much innovation going on for there to be just one recognition for each speciality. Therefore, it will not be confined to one acknowledgement per category and – on top of this – all those featured in the list will receive a commemorative trophy at NAB Show 2025 to keep as a reminder of their incredible achievements.

By the way, not all the decisions will be down to us. Our Honours List features three people’s choice categories. Nominations for these are open now, with a deadline of 1 November.

The Categories

Excellence in cloud

From amateur streamers to top-tier broadcasters, cloud now plays a key role in media production workflows. We will be highlighting some of the most exciting developments in the space over the past year.

Excellence in live

Live TV and streaming is now so seamless that it’s easy to forget how much work the operators and tech vendors put in behind the scenes to deliver so much quality content. We share 2024’s cream of the crop.

Special recognition in AI

Artificial intelligence is changing everything. For each link in the media chain – asset management, captions, commentary, editing and more – AI is creating an automated future. This is for those that stood out to us in 2024.

Special recognition in 5G

Cellular’s presence has increased exponentially over several decades now. The next generation of network technology is 5G and it’s an exciting time for the movement, so we shine a spotlight on those at the forefront.

Achievements in sustainability

Sustainability is the most pressing issue faced by the industry right now. It’s crucial to recognise where steps have been taken to combat climate change, and help inspire others to take the green approach.

Xtreme’s outstanding contribution to sports broadcast

FEED’s sports broadcast segment Xtreme is taking this opportunity to celebrate those beaming the biggest sporting moments to the world this year. From the Olympics to the Euros, there’s plenty to choose from.

Xtreme’s outstanding contribution to esports broadcast

Esports is a dominant force within the broadcast arena, with technical innovation at its heart. Xtreme will be looking for the most impressive achievements relating to this ever-growing sector.
