Clear-Com supports record 28-hour Nürburgring broadcast
From start to finish, Clear-Com’s technology kept communication running smoothly during the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Race at Nürburgring, helping deliver one of the longest live sports broadcasts ever

The recent ADAC RAVENOL 24h Race at Germany’s Nürburgring circuit marked a milestone for live broadcast production, with Clear-Com playing a pivotal role in keeping the entire operation connected. With nearly 28 hours of continuous coverage, the production broke the record for the longest live TV sports broadcast.
Featuring 130 cars and 500 drivers, the 24-hour endurance race is among the most challenging in the world. To meet this demand, Clear-Com provided a total of 21 FreeSpeak II IP transceivers, 20 FreeSpeak II beltpacks and four FreeSpeak Icon beltpacks across the site.
Throughout the event, Clear-Com and its German distributor, Audio-Technica, also provided direct technical support. Using EHX configuration software, operators maintained complete control of the communication network throughout the marathon broadcast.
Clear-Com’s Eclipse HX-Delta matrix system formed the core of the intercom infrastructure used across the pit lane, paddock, start-finish area and helicopter links. Deployed by HDwireless GmbH, it provided stable and reliable communication across all key areas.
“At an event as technically demanding as the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Race, communication has to be absolutely reliable,” said Alex Hemme, regional sales manager at Clear-Com. “Working closely with HDwireless and Audio-Technica, we ensured that every team, from the OB vans to the pit lane, had clear, stable communication throughout the entire broadcast.”
The success of this record-breaking production adds to Clear-Com’s growing track record of supporting complex live events, including a 24-hour global broadcast, further demonstrating Clear-Com’s commitment to dependable communication.
