A new report from The DPP has shown that customer caution is holding back AI innovation at IBC, among other industry shifts
The DPP, the international network for media and technology, has recently published IBC 2025: Demand vs Supply – the sixth edition in its Demand vs Supply series. This report provides a unique snapshot of IBC 2025, showing how customer needs are evolving and suppliers are responding.
The IBC 2025 edition focuses on three themes: Agentic AI, AV Broadcast, and Data Driven Content. David Thompson, technology strategist at The DPP and report author, highlighted the main findingS of this year’s analysis, saying, “At IBC 2025 we found an industry where vendors are trying to meet their customers’ needs – but those customers are held back by their own challenges around confidence, cost and change management.”
Key points made in the report show Agentic AI is in early adoption, with customers focusing on governance and integration. Meanwhile, AV Broadcast is rapidly growing as more organisations bring production in house. Lastly, Data Driven Content is shaping commissioning and distribution despite ongoing challenges with trust and interoperability.
Major structural shifts are also highlighted by the report. These include shrinking broadcast trade shows, the growing influence of ProAV and creator communities, and the acceleration of software and hybrid cloud strategies.
“IBC 2025 confirmed that the media ecosystem is no longer defined by traditional broadcast alone,” added Thompson. “New players are entering, expectations are changing, and the relationship between demand and supply is being renegotiated in real time – dramatically reshaping both investment and innovation.”
IBC 2025: Demand vs Supply is available now for members.
