NDR chooses EVS to modernise workflows

EVS’s MediaCeption content management solution will enable an end-to-end news production workflow for Germany’s leading news programme

EVS, a leader in live video production technology, has announced a major agreement with Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR), one of Germany’s key public television networks within the ARD group. As part of this agreement, EVS will deliver its MediaCeption content management solution to help tagesschau and ARD-aktuell’s other news programmes across TV, online and social media.

With the VIA Media Asset Management Platform (VIA MAP) at its core, MediaCeption will give tagesschau a unified news production environment for managing and editing live and near-live news content. The solution also introduces AI-driven workflows that will further update newsroom operations.

Additionally, XS-VIA servers will operate alongside VIA MAP for ingest and playout operations. To cover the complete operation, EVS will also provide nearline storage and secure disaster recovery workflows.

The new solution will give NDR faster content turnaround, smooth operations and stronger collaboration across teams. “News is always a matter of speed,” said Marcus Bornheim, chief editor at ARD-aktuell. Serge Van Herck, CEO of EVS, supported this, saying, “This collaboration underscores our dedication to innovation, reliability and empowering our customers’ success, and we look forward to helping NDR bring exceptional content to their audiences.”

This new system is already underway and is scheduled to go on air in 2026, reflecting the wider changes shaping 21st-century newsrooms.
