NRJ France utilises Sony BRC-AM7 PTZ cameras

Sony have announced that French commercial radio station NRJ Radio has deployed BRC-AM7 PTZ cameras in its studios as part of the modernisation of its video infrastructure.

In response to changing usage patterns and the growing importance of video in the radio industry, NRJ sought to upgrade its broadcast capabilities while preserving the aesthetics and ergonomics of its studios.

The studio redesign project aimed to replace the station’s existing camera fleet with a more modern solution capable of delivering high image quality while blending discreetly into the studio environment.

“We needed to replace our old Sony cameras and set up a compact, high-quality system that would integrate seamlessly into the studio,” explains Mathieu Guinet, technical manager at NRJ. “Available space was one of the project’s main constraints; we had to install several cameras in limited locations without compromising image quality or the experience of the hosts and guests.”

To meet these requirements, NRJ chose the BRC-AM7 camera, whose compact design allows for discreet integration while ensuring image quality that meets current broadcast standards.

The BRC-AM7 is a next-generation 4K60p PTZ camera designed for broadcast, corporate, and event applications. Its compact size, AI-powered automatic framing capabilities, image quality, and ease of integration make it a solution particularly well-suited for modern production environments where discretion and flexibility are essential.

“I’m very familiar with Sony products. In our context, the BRC-AM7s represent an excellent balance between quality, price, and size,” notes Guinet.

The choice of the BRC-AM7 was also driven by the proven reliability of Sony solutions as well as their ability to produce high-quality images in demanding production environments.

“Everyone is very satisfied with the image quality,” confirms Guinet. “The cameras’ web interface is also very practical for day-to-day operations and monitoring.”

“Today’s filmed radio studios have high demands in terms of image quality, discretion, and ease of operation. With the BRC-AM7, we have developed a PTZ camera capable of meeting these requirements. We are delighted that NRJ has chosen this solution to support the modernisation of its studios and the further development of its video content,” said Pascal Kerloch, Key Account Sales Manager, Sony Europe.

The rise of video content derived from radio broadcasts is gradually transforming studios into true audiovisual production spaces. PTZ cameras are playing a central role thanks to their compact size, remote control capabilities, and ability to integrate into environments where every centimetre counts.

With the BRC-AM7 cameras, NRJ now has a modern infrastructure capable of supporting the development of its video content, whether it be live broadcasts, clips for social media, or digital productions associated with its programs.
