RTVE Play leads free OTT platforms with CrossMedia

CrossMedia is helping shape the success of RTVE Play, Spain’s leading on-demand video service. As part of ES Media Group, CrossMedia has developed and managed key technological components for the platform. With this support, RTVE Play has recently ranked first among free OTT platforms in the GECA FAST Barometer.

Beyond its extensive catalogue of films, series, programmes and historical content, RTVE Play also offers live linear channels such as La 1, 24 Horas and Teledeporte. Additionally, the platform provides exclusive digital channels like RTVE La Revuelta and RTVE Somos Cine.

In recent years, CrossMedia has worked with RTVE Play on several major projects, including renewing its video player with an accessible design and deploying a personalised recommendation engine with 24i. These changes have improved performance, enhanced video quality and leveraged AI to boost engagement.

CrossMedia has also introduced an advanced analytics platform with Conviva sensors to monitor real-time performance and user behaviour. This development has provided valuable insights to refine the viewing experience for users. In addition, the company manages RTVE Play’s CDN, ensuring secure, scalable delivery for major events such as the UEFA Nations League and Benidorm Fest.
