What goes around comes around – the same is true of kit. Whether you’re in the market for a new camera body, lens, monitor or memory card, MPB lets you go circular. Simply send in your old gear and get the next best thing without making a dent in your wallet.

The largest platform for buying, selling and trading used equipment, MPB recognises that production needs change between projects. Based in Brooklyn, Brighton and Berlin, the company is dedicated to global recirculation, offering used products from top brands at a 30% discount* from new – and constantly adding in-demand items to its catalogue. In 2023 alone, MPB recycled 485,000 individual items – a 39% increase from the previous year.

MPB approved

Trust is a key factor when making a financial investment. This is especially true for kit, as old gear can be faulty or even malfunction. MPB’s experts check each item with a full inspection once it’s sent in, publishing photos from every angle – what you see is what you get – and describing its cosmetic condition upon re-listing. Each product also comes with a six-month warranty, with free returns and a full refund (within 14 days) if you’re not completely satisfied.

Rated five stars on Trustpilot, MPB provides peace of mind for every single purchase, proving that purchasing used doesn’t have to mean sacrificing reliability.

Even if you’re not in the market right now, you can sell to MPB at any time – with the average customer earning £700/$900 for every sale. Simply go online to get a quote, ship your gear for free and watch the money arrive in your bank account. If your item is in better or worse condition than expected, the team will adjust your quote accordingly, though this is rare. If it’s lower than the initial amount, you can request to have your kit returned at no cost.

Planet friendly

A circular economy benefits absolutely everyone – buyers, sellers, as well as the environment. MPB is committed to reducing its carbon footprint, delivering all items in plastic-free packaging, minimising waste and relying on renewable electricity.

In its 2023 Impact Report – the first of its kind – MPB outlined its sustainable practices: 45% of its overall electricity came from renewable sources, with 100% renewable electricity fuelling its Berlin site. The company sent zero waste to landfill, instead recycling 70% of materials, with the rest being processed into energy. And, thanks to its online platform, MPB lowered its carbon emissions by 75%.

Because of its environmental efforts, MPB scored an A- rating in the 2022 Circulytics assessment, which measures a given business’ commitment to being circular. The company has pledged to continue this mission, transitioning to 100% renewable electricity and net zero emissions by 2030.

Team player

A sustainable business model does not simply equate to environmental awareness; for MPB, it also means promoting access and inclusion via employment, advertising, community initiatives and other partnerships.

Diverse employment begins with the recruitment process and continues up the company ladder. MPB’s Impact Report claims an equal gender split at the highest level, with 50% of executive management, 56% of senior management and 35% of all other managerial roles held by women. Diversity makes for better, broader visual stories; 61% of MPB’s marketing, advertising and original content includes individuals from at least one underrepresented group in the production industry.

MPB puts its money where its mouth is – sponsoring community events such as SheClicks, One Tree Planted and the Eye Mama project.

One for all

MPB isn’t just for the professionals; it’s a platform for those with a passion for visual storytelling. From camera operators to AV enthusiasts, there’s great used gear to be discovered. If you’re up for spring cleaning, MPB will gladly take any old kit off your hands.

“As someone scaling a circular business for over a decade, I know that there are no shortcuts,” says CEO Matt Barker. Above all, MPB sticks to its mission: to serve both people and the planet.
